Spoiler: Yep. Even healing has a season.
Let’s be real for a second: healing is in.
Your barista’s in therapy. Your boss is quoting Brené Brown. Your favorite playlist is probably called Inner Child Vibes. And we’re here for it. Truly.
Therapy has finally taken its rightful place at the table. No more whispering about “seeing someone” like you’re plotting a heist. These days, you can casually mention EMDR or somatic processing in a group chat—and people get it.
But now that therapy is trendy, helpful, and encouraged (hallelujah)… it’s time to ask the question no one really wants to say out loud:
Is there such a thing as too much therapy? As in— Can you outgrow therapy as your only tool? Can it shift from a catalyst to a comfort zone?
At Forward Healing®, we believe the answer is a gentle but firm yes. There is such a thing as too much of anything. Even kale. Even oat milk lattes. Even sitting in a cozy office talking about your childhood every Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Let’s be clear—this isn’t a “ditch your therapist” post. We’re therapists. We love therapy. We also go to therapy. But maybe, just maybe, you’ve gotten what you needed… And now you’re ready for what comes next. That’s why we created the Forward Model of Change®—because healing doesn’t stop when therapy does.
Let’s play a little game of Spot the Signs:
1. Everything is a trigger.
You can’t go to brunch without analyzing your tone, your friend’s reaction, and your inner 5-year-old. Sometimes things are just… brunch.
2. Your therapist could summarize your session before you even speak.
If therapy feels like Groundhog Day—same journal, same tears, no new insights—you might be circling.
3. You’re married to your past, and not even flirting with your future.
You know why you do what you do. But imagining who you’re becoming? That part’s blurry.
4. You miss the spark.
Remember those early ah-ha moments? Yeah, they’re fading. You’re starting to wonder: am I just venting in a vacuum?
5. You’ve “processed” your patterns, but your life still feels… stuck.
You know the roots of the tree. But are you growing anything new?
If any of that hits a little close to home—you’re not broken. You’re probably just… ready.
Not to abandon therapy. But to shift forward.
From reflecting to reimagining. From healing to integrating. From Why am I like this? to Who do I want to become?
This is support for the version of you who’s done the deep work and is now asking: what’s next?
It’s still guided. Still rooted in care. But now, we’re looking ahead—not just backward. We designed After-Therapy® for folks who don’t want to keep living inside their healing story—
but instead want to write a new one. One that’s grounded in purpose, future vision, and aligned action.
If you’re wondering if therapy might not be the only path forward, try integrating:
Take our 1-minute quiz to find out what type of support in our model fits you best. Because growth doesn’t always mean more therapy—Sometimes it means the right next thing. You deserve support that fits who you are now—Not just who you were when you started.
