How is AI used in Therapy?
All of our content is written or spoken, then edited with the support of AI. We create all offerings and tools through our own knowledge and teaching. In addition, we do not use AI in our practice to write notes, track session progress, or even record sessions. We don’t know exactly the cost or benefits for it therapeutically so we have chosen not to integrate it into our work.
What if I want/need a customized care plan, though?
Every client is different, and each person’s healing journey will look different too. The Forward Healing Model of Change® doesn’t box you in to being or feeling a certain way — it’s simply a measurement we use to best guide you on your unique path. There’s no set timeline for you, and your therapist may use any variety of tools and modalities to best support you.
What is your refund policy?
Forward Healing Therapy will provide refunds when insurance changes are made from your insurance provider. We do not offer refunds on documentation, self pay sessions, or copays/co-insurance late cancel/no show fees.
What insurance do you take?
Our practice accepts Select Health Value + Med, PEHP, EMI, HMHI, Tricare West, and BCBS insurance. If you’re unsure what insurance plan and/or carrier you have, please reach out to the insurance carrier to confirm.
How do I know how much a session will cost with my insurance?
We can’t give you this information at our practice, as it’s determined by your insurance. Please contact your insurance carrier and let them know you’re seeking mental health care. We can’t guarantee any specific pricing based on what is/is not covered by your insurance plan.
What is your cancellation policy?
Our cancellation is 48 hours. This means that if you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, you will be charged the full amount for your appointment.
Do I see my therapist In person or virtual?
We offer both in-person and virtual therapy. You’ll discuss what your preference is during the intake process.
What if I don't live in Utah?
You’ll need to find a therapist who is licensed in your state. A majority of our team is licensed in Utah, Alyssa is also able to see virtual clients in Idaho.
Which payment methods do you accept?
We only accept credit cards, HSA cards, or FSA cards. We do not accept checks or cash. We will accept CVR payments from the state of Utah.
What is the Forward Healing Model of Change®, exactly?
It’s our way of approaching the healing process to help you move forward. Traditional psychotherapy is beneficial…until it’s not. Unfortunately many people end up cycling in and out of therapy, without ever really moving forward in their journey. Instead of talking in circles for years, we’ve defined clear phases of the healing process with notable benchmarks. Our goal is to help you create long term change by moving through the four phases of healing so you can reclaim your identity and feel fully yourself.
How is AI used in Coaching?
All of our content is written or spoken, then edited with the support of AI. We create all offerings and tools through our own knowledge and teaching. In addition, Becca uses zoom recording and occasionally a note taking app during your coaching sessions to make sure that she can be full present.
Is After Therapy® coaching a replacement for therapy?
No. It's what comes after, or alongside, but it isn't a substitute for clinical mental health treatment. If it becomes clear during our work together that psychotherapy would serve you better, I'll say so and help you find the right support.
Can Becca be my therapist and coach at the same time?
No. Providing counseling and coaching at the same time is not something that clinical therapists engage in, nor should a life coach without clinical training and licensing provide psychotherapy to coaching clients.
I've never done therapy. Can I still work with Becca?
Yes, please know that these offerings are not HIPPA compliant but our team will follow HIPPA to the best of their ability. Please talk to your therapist about what this looks like.
As a therapy client can I join workshops, group coaching, or other offers through After Therapy®?
Yes, please know that these offerings are not HIPPA compliant but our team will follow HIPPA to the best of their ability. Please talk to your therapist about what this looks like.
What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?
Life coaches help the clients they work with focus on identifying and moving towards personal and, at times, professional goals. Through focused coaching support, clients can learn healthy and helpful ways of navigating through challenges in creating a life they feel excited about. It may be interesting to learn that life coaching is rooted in clinical theory, often drawing on the work of Dr. Carl Rogers, Dr. Alfred Adler, and Dr. Carl Jung. Rogers, Adler and Jung saw individuals as fully capable artists of their lives, and frequently involved their clients in goal setting and life planning. These are all tenets and approaches in today’s life coaching methods.
Coaching takes the best of those approaches, along with a new type of assistance for clients, such as:
Working with the client to help them define life dreams and goals
Formulating a plan that will foster and grow the client’s skills and talents
Helping the client navigate difficult challenges in reaching their goals
Teaching tools and providing materials to assist the client• Helping the client with focus and accountability
Providing structure, encouragement and support
Providing intentional and empathetic listening
What if I sign up for coaching and need a therapist?
If after your first session, or at some point during your coaching work, it is apparent that you would be better supported by Psychotherapy, and you are not located in Utah (the State our therapists are licensed in), our team will do our best to provide you with clinical referrals in your area, and will refer you out to a therapist. .
Why do you offer group containers instead of just 1:1 work?
Because not everyone needs, or wants, six months of just you and me. Some of you are craving collective energy, other perspectives, the accountability of showing up with other women instead of just yourself. Group work also lets this stuff be more accessible, both in investment and in experience. And honestly? Some of the deepest shifts I've watched happen weren't from something I said one-on-one. They happened because another person in the group said something another had been too afraid to say out loud.
What is Human Design, actually?
Human Design (HD) is a system that maps your energy (how you're built to make decisions, use your time, and interact with the world). It uses your birth date, time, and location to find this information. Human Design pulls from astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah, and the chakra system, but don't let that scare you off if you're not "into" any of those on their own. Think of HD less as a personality quiz and more as a permission slip. Most of us were raised to operate the same way everyone else does (push through, prove ourselves, do more to be worthy. Human Design shows you where that's actually working against your nature, and where you've been overriding what your body already knows.
What are energy modalities?
Energy modalities are practices that work with the parts of you that talking doesn't always reach (ex: your nervous system, your body, the stuff that's stored below the language you use to explain yourself). Things like breathwork, somatic practices, energy clearing, intuitive channeling as some examples for energy modalities. If therapy is where you learned to understand your patterns, energy work is where you learn to actually release what's been keeping them stuck.
What is "personal development work," and how is that different from therapy?
Therapy tends to focus on healing what happened (processing, understanding, regulating). Personal development work picks up from there. It's goal-oriented, forward-facing, and practical. Think identity, self-trust, values, decision-making, boundaries, becoming the version of you that your healing has actually been clearing space for.
What do you mean by "spiritual work" or "soul work"?
I mean the part of you that's more than your diagnosis, your coping strategies, or your resume. Spiritual work isn't about religion (unless that's part of your path). It's about reconnecting to your intuition, your knowing, the sensitivity you probably tucked away somewhere around the time you got good at being capable. It's the part of healing that doesn't fit neatly into a treatment plan, and it's usually the part women tell me they've been quietly craving the whole time.
Why do people benefit from community and group spaces?
Because healing in isolation only gets you so far. There's something that happens when you're in a room (physical or virtual) with others who get it without you having to explain yourself first. The small moments of mirroring, the "wait, me too," the way your own stuff gets clearer just from witnessing someone else's. We believe you can do a lot of deep work alone, but you can't always see yourself clearly alone which is why group work matters to us.
Are the group offerings (like Design in Practice or community events) HIPAA protected?
No, and it's important you know that going in. HIPAA protections apply to the therapy side of my practice, not to coaching or group containers. Design in Practice and other group offerings are coaching spaces, not clinical ones, so the same legal confidentiality standards that govern therapy don't apply here. That said, confidentiality still matters deeply to me and to the container. Every group agrees to keep what's shared inside the group, inside the group. I hold that expectation seriously and so does everyone in the room.
Do I have to believe in this stuff for it to work?
You have to be curious. That's it. Some of the most skeptical people I've worked with have had the biggest shifts, because they let curiosity lead instead of needing proof upfront. This work is meant to feel real, not like a leap of faith. If something doesn't land for you, we don't force it and always give you a chance to say no.
Is this religious?
No. Human Design, energy work, and the spiritual side of what I do aren't tied to any one religion or belief system. If you have a faith practice, this can absolutely sit alongside it. If you don't, that's fine too. What matters is your relationship to your own intuition, not a specific doctrine.
What's the difference between a Human Design reading and After Therapy® coaching?
A reading is a single 60-minute session, a foundation. You leave with real clarity on how your energy actually works. After Therapy® coaching is the six-month container where we take that foundation and actually live it: rebuilding trust, practicing alignment, integrating it into your real, everyday decisions. The reading is the map and Coaching is walking the road.
